Terms of Business

Producer agreement
Business is placed through Valjean Specialty under a signed producer agreement with each appointed agency. The retail agent must hold, and keep current, the licenses required in the insured's home state and errors and omissions coverage. The retail agent is responsible for all communication with the insured, including delivering binders, policies and other documents. Valjean Specialty acts only as a wholesale intermediary between the retail agent and insurers, and is not the agent of the insured.
Premium payment and remittance
Premium is due to Valjean Specialty within 30 days of the binder or invoice date, unless the invoice states otherwise. Pay by check or ACH as shown on the invoice. Surplus lines taxes and fees are billed separately and are fully earned.
Surplus lines taxes and fees
Surplus lines premium taxes and any applicable stamping or filing fees are charged in addition to premium and shown on the quote and invoice.
Cancellations and return premium
Cancellations are subject to the carrier's terms, including any minimum earned premium. Policy and broker fees, and surplus lines taxes on earned premium, are non-refundable. Return premiums are remitted to the retail agent once received from the carrier.
